About Dogwood Doula Collective.
Confident. Empowered. Supported.
We all met as volunteer doulas through the UNC Birth Partners program and continue to share our passion for serving the Triangle birth community. We are excited to meet you and support you through your pregnancy - as a first time parent or beyond!
As experienced doulas, we are knowledgeable in pregnancy, labor, and birth and look forward to guiding you through your own experience. Our hope is to help you plan a labor and birth experience where you feel confident in yourself, empowered to make choices, and supported in your decisions. All members of our collective doulas have completed a variety of trainings, including doula training, childbirth education, basic lactation support, along with additional professional development courses.
All of the Dogwood Doulas serve a variety of birth locations across the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area including; UNC Chapel Hill, Duke Main Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Wake Med (Cary, North, & Raleigh), and UNC Rex Hospital. Additionally, some of our doulas may support at local Birth Centers, along with homebirths with a licensed medical provider present.
Support with evidence.
Doulas are trained, non-medical providers who provide emotional and physical support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Doula support has been shown to be evidenced-based and in multiple studies have shown that laboring persons with continuous support have shorter labors and are less likely to use pain medication during their labors. (Evidence Based Birth, 2018)
